“Halo BI is a major evolution in business intelligence systems,” said Ray Major, President of iQ for Business. “Traditional BI systems — data aggregation, warehousing and reporting — have been around for more than a decade, and social BI or collaboration tools have emerged in the past few years,” he said. “Halo BI is the first to merge both so that traditional business intelligence and collaborative human intelligence are combined into a larger, more complete intelligence platform.”
More than two years in development, the Halo Business Intelligence platform is a complete data aggregation, warehousing and visualization system comprised of five major components:
- Halo Rays – Application and source agnostic connectors that connect to and extract information from thousands of external applications, databases and information repositories.
- Halo Source – The core data aggregation and analysis engine that provides enterprise-grade data mashup, warehousing and analysis in a drag and drop environment.
- Halo Prism – Interactive data visualization, dashboards and reporting in a browser-based environment that runs on desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones.
- Halo Rings – Collaboration and decision-support tools integrated with Halo Prism. Allows users to share views, discuss data, assign tasks and track results without ever leaving the dashboard.
- Halo Span – Secure remote authentication and management that allows sharing of BI data with external parties such as contractors, suppliers, customers and partners.
The product, designed primarily for midsized organizations, offers pre-built “quick-start” templates for a number of industries, including Distribution, Financial Services, Health Care, Hospitality, Manufacturing and Retail. The templates allow the Halo BI system to be up and running in just a few days rather than over a period of weeks or months as is typical in other business intelligence implementations.
“In the design of Halo BI we focused on implementing best practises from top to bottom,” Major said. “That meant ensuring that we used open technologies and industry-standards, as well as making it mobile and simple to use. Collectively this lowers overall implementation and maintenance costs while also allowing non-technical personnel and executives to leverage BI to the same degree that IT staffers and business analysts do.”
During the AXUG Summit in Seattle (October 16 -19, 2012), iQ for Business will be demonstrating Halo Business at its Vendor Showcase on October 18 at 9:30am in room 602, the same day at 12pm during a free Lunch session at Blueacre Seafood, and throughout the duration of the show in its booth, number 516.
